Returning to the Waterfowl Festival for his third year, Randy has been woodcarving for over 20 years. His attention to detail in all of his work helps to give his sculptures “life” and “attitude”. Shortly after beginning to carve, Randy focused his efforts on bird sculpting, and has won top honors at many of the shows he attends. He thoroughly enjoys the process of starting with a block of wood, with the goal of capturing the spirit of his subject, and producing a lifelike, detailed work of art.
“Inspiration comes from everywhere, says Conner, “Whether it be from meeting and talking with fellow artists at a great venue like the Waterfowl Festival, or simply observing birds at our rural Finger Lakes home in Candor, NY, there’s always more to learn about the art, you can never stop learning!”
Randy currently competes in several world-level competitions and has steadily progressed, winning many ribbons and awards along the way. Randy very much enjoys carving all types of birds with individuality and beauty; capturing the essence of birds such as hawks, owls, songbirds, and even some game birds.
