Hometown: Tilghman Island
The paintings of Sandy Alanko reflect her love of the natural world, its wildlife and wild places. She finds endless inspiration in the salt marshes, fields, woods and harbors that surround her Tilghman Island home, as well as in the varied landscapes of foreign countries. She works in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and oil.
Sandy has a master’s degree in fine art. She studied Renaissance art in Florence Italy, taught art in public and private schools for many years, in addition to teaching for the St. Michaels Art League, the Academy Art Museum and in her home studio.
