2012 Waterfowl Festival Masterclasses

Heiner Hertling“Simplifying Landscape Oil Painting”

This year Heiner will provide an image of a landscape painting and will show participants how to paint a similar painting in the class.  Beginners as well as accomplished artists will benefit.  The class format is similar to the artist’s PBS TV series, “Your Brush with Nature” in which Heiner will first demonstrate and then critique each participant’s progress throughout the class.  The focus will be on the use of oils in painting natural landscapes, and every participant will finish the day with their own completed painting.

“Introduction to Digital Photography”

This session will be geared to the owner of a compact or digital SLR camera or for those that are making the transition to digital photography. This class will focus on the fundamentals of digital photography and help participants learn how to get the most out of their digital camera. Chris will discuss composition basics, exposure, and the latest field techniques. Based on feedback from previous classes, Chris will cover many types of photography; nature, travel and portraits. By popular demand, Chris will also provide critiques of class participant images.

This class will present ideas on how to take your images and stories and put them into a printed project to share with family and friends.  Having created a book to convey his photographic vision to family and friends, Chris will share his experience and demystify the myriad of options available at every budget level.  The purpose of this class is to share ideas of how to create projects from your photographic files that gets them off the computer and into a printed format creating your photographic legacy.
